Mbh.1.1.14	The Rishi replied, The Purana, first promulgated by the great Rishi Dwaipayana, and which after having been heard both by the gods and the Brahmarshis was highly esteemed, being the most eminent narrative that exists, diversified both in diction and division, possessing subtile meanings logically combined, and gleaned from the Vedas, is a sacred work.
Mbh.1.1.74	As the full-moon by its mild light expandeth the buds of the water-lily, so this Purana, by exposing the light of the Sruti hath expanded the human intellect.

Mbh.1.62.2982	This Bharata is equal unto the Vedas, is holy and excellent; is the worthiest of all to be listened to, and is a Purana worshipped by the Rishis.
Mbh.1.65.3294	Thus hath been recited by me, as heard in the Purana, of progeny of the gods and the Asuras, both of great strength and energy.
