MAHABHARATA NOUN

See All Nouns, See All Categories

Mbh.1.8.1111 At that time, O Brahmana sage, Viswavasu, the King of the Gandharvas, it is said, had intimacy with Menaka, the celestial dancing-girl.
Mbh.1.8.1112 And the Apsara, Menaka, O thou of the Bhrigu race, when her time was come, brought forth an infant near the hermitage of Sthulakesa.
Mbh.1.8.1113 And dropping the newborn infant on the banks of the river, O Brahmana, Menaka, the Apsara, being destitute of pity and shame, went away.
Mbh.1.71.3751 Indra, thus alarmed, summoned Menaka and told her, Thou, O Menaka, art the first of celestial Apsaras.
Mbh.1.71.3756 Indeed, O slender-waisted Menaka, this is thy business.
Mbh.1.71.3760 Hearing all this, Menaka replied, The illustrious Viswamitra is endued with great energy and is a mighty ascetic.
Mbh.1.71.3787 Saying this and seeing that all she had spoken about had been duly provided, Menaka went to the retreat of the great Kausika
Mbh.1.72.3788 SECTION LXXII Sambhava Parva continued Kanwa continued, And Sakra, thus addressed by her, then commanded him who could approach every place viz, the god of the wind to be present with Menaka at the time she would be before the Rishi.
Mbh.1.72.3789 And the timid and beautiful Menaka then entered the retreat and saw there Viswamitra who had burnt, by his penances, all his sins, and was engaged still in ascetic penances.
Mbh.1.72.3800 And sporting with each other, just as they pleased, for a long time as if it were only a single day, the Rishi begat on Menaka a daughter named Sakuntala.
Mbh.1.72.3801 And Menaka as her conception advanced went to the banks of the river Malini coursing along a valley of the charming mountains of Himavat.
Mbh.1.72.3806 Those vultures protected the daughter of Menaka.
Mbh.1.74.3991 Urvasi, Purvachitti, Sahajanya, Menaka, Viswachi and Ghritachi, these are the six foremost of Apsaras.
Mbh.1.74.3992 Amongst them again, Menaka, born of Brahman, is the first.
Mbh.1.74.3994 That celebrated Apsara, Menaka, brought me forth in a valley of Himavat.
Mbh.1.74.4002 Destitute of all affection, the lewd Menaka is thy mother, and she cast thee off on the surface of the Himavat as one throws away, after the worship is over, the flowery offering made to his gods.
Mbh.1.74.4004 However, Menaka is the first of Apsaras, and thy father also is the first of Rishis.
Mbh.1.74.4009 Where is that foremost of great Rishis, where also is that Apsara Menaka?
Mbh.1.74.4016 Lustfully hast thou been begotten by Menaka.
Mbh.1.74.4022 Menaka is one of the celestials.
Mbh.1.74.4023 Indeed, Menaka is reckoned as the first of celestials.

Mbh.3.43.2320 And Ghritachi and Menaka and Rambha and Purvachitti and Swayamprabha and Urvasi and Misrakesi and Dandagauri and Varuthini and Gopali and Sahajanya and Kumbhayoni and Prajagara and Chitrasena and Chitralekha and Saha and Madhuraswana, these and others by thousands, possessed of eyes like lotus leaves, who were employed in enticing the hearts of persons practising rigid austerities, danced there.
